Mondayoff

So, I planned this day off. A Monday off. I had to work both days at the big, ugly blue place (one more to go, I'm so friggin excited), plus last week was crazy with partner out of town on pseudo honeymoon, the weekend was filled with nuptials, bachelor party, then the crazy week before that with partners future in-laws in town for the upcoming celebration. I knew I'd need a break. Plus, it's the only day I could've scheduled such a thing over the next few weeks, so I did it.
Well. It sort of worked out. Way too cold at the beach. Who would've thought there'd be a 30 degree temperature difference between the city and the coast. Well, in retrospect, it actually was sort of obvious, but, it's my story. Let me tell it how I want.
So, after the big, ugly blue place on Sunday, I booked home, changed into shorts, etc, then boogied toward the coast. Yeah, right. When I get there, like I said, it's 30 degrees cooler. That's kind of substantial.
First order of business. Must buy pants and sweatshirt. Hey, All I packed were shorts and tees. I was planning on being there <15 hours. A cheap room, some time on the sand to reflect, throw dice, get back to the city. Easy, right? Nope.
So, pants donned, sweatshirt donned. Alright, cool. I'm ready to go. Meanwhile, it's 7:30, maybe 58 degrees. Oh, and did I mention it's windy. Windy as hell. like 30 mile an hour windy. So, this balmy 58 turned into really, really uncomfortable.

Not much time on the sand, scurry in and eat lots and lots of food. I hate to say it, but that's when things got bad. Very bad.

Chevy Chase in Vegas Vacation is what I felt like. I couldn't do anything right. Lost money on everything but the ATM. Holy crap. Came out of the casino much lighter in the wallet, but with my ego devestated.

The next day, the actual day off. Much the same. Sunny, clear, but friggin cold. I was gone by Noon. Back to reality. So much for my day off, now I need a day off to recover from my day off.

Fucking Irony.

I went to Bandon, OR a few weeks ago and experienced the same thing - except I had brought a sweatshirt. Windy and cold. But I liked it, still. We drank and ate too much and only spent a little time at the beach to avoid the chill but it's still pretty there, no matter what the temperature.

Too bad you couldn't have taken Tuesday off!
