Anonymous

The topic of anonymity and blogs is as old as blogs--well, I guess it's not that old of a topic, but I'm going to toss in my thoughts.
I am a blog reader. Faithfully read about 10 different blogs, quickly scan another 30. The ones I read regulary I read for various reasons. Most entertain, some inform, some for inspiration. For the most part, each has their own pseudonym, nom de plume, whatever. I don't give much thought to the person behind the curtain. Somewhat out of respect, but also out of decision. I have my mind made up what I think about the person based on their writings. What they like, don't like, what they eat, where they live, etc. Don't really think about what their real names might/could be and the like.
There were two seemingly non-connected events that inspired this post. Well, maybe three.
1). I've decided I need to get better about writing down my thoughts on this blog. I'm here, get used to it.

2). WW ran an article which talked about blogs and the typical writer/reader of a blog. Evidently, there is a disproportionate number of gay men who have blogs and who read blogs. Not that there's anything wrong with that (thanks Seinfeld), but I'm not a gay man, but I find blogs fascinating. Constantly wishing I'd do better with mine, but I'm not the kind of person who walks around my day wondering if such and such would make a good topic for a blog.

3). Finally, probably the blog that got me hooked into reading them (no, not Jessica Cutler's) has many, many links. I've posted a few times on this person's blogs and had conversations. She's interesting. Her writing style is fantastic, entertaining and instructive. However, I always address her by her blog pseudonym. That's cool. However, there are a few people (four distinct people) who have posted in different areas (three) who all call her by the same name. It got me thinking, wow, maybe that's her real name. Interesting. She's a real person, with a real name and everything. Hmmm. Just never thought of it in those terms before.

So. What does this mean? Not sure. Not sure at all.
