Ice, Ice Baby

So, I've gone through this odd music thing lately. Maybe it's because I'm contemplating getting an Ipod (finally). Thanks for the encouragement, those of you who are encouraging me.
Anyway, I made this funny CD with many 80s and 90s songs on it. One of those songs was Vanilla Ice's Ice, Ice Baby. Wow. Quite possibly one of the worst songs ever, but entertaining nonetheless.
I remember hearing that song when it first came out and being confused because it was a melody of a Queen song, but different lyrics. I remember thinking, that can't be right. Freddie Mercury wrote the rhthym, now this dude is using it and making money off of it. Well, we all know how that turned out.

So, it got me thinking about the time in my life when that song came out.
Let's see 89, 90 ,91. Somewhere in there. I was somewhat of a mess. Academics weren't exactly my strong suit and my friend circle was no wider than it had been than when I was 12. I've come a long way on both fronts.

I'm pretty sure Vanilla would give up his fame and notoriety to have back a lot of the things he lost while being famous and all that. From what I understand, he got shook down by Mr. Knight (don't come after me, Suge). He also got sued (of course) by the folks from Queen. He later tried to reinvent himself with this more grunge kind of sound, even remade the song with a bit of a Slayer sound to it. Still Ice, just a little different flavor.
