Is this wrong?

OK, how many of us have wanted to say this to someone?

The story goes, that a woman comes home and finds her daughters fighting, and that the 12 year old had kicked a hole in the wall. Why someone would call the authorities for that, I'm not sure. And evidently, the 911 dispatcher agreed, because she offered to come over and shoot the kid for the woman. Grin.

I know, I know. We don't know what this woman has been through with these kids, what other shenanigans they have pulled, maybe she felt threatened. I acknowledge that. It's just that all of us have been somewhere where there was an unruly child--typically due to apathetic parenting--that we wish we could have intervened. I've never shot anyone and wouldn't expect that I'll be starting anytime soon, but come on parents. Give us non-parents a break.

I always hear the argument, "you don't know what it's like to be a parent. It's a lot of work." Right. I agree. That's why I CHOOSE to not be a parent. It's my choice. Don't make me suffer because you CHOOSE to become a parent.

(Insert dream sequence music)
I'm at the grocery store the other day and there's a girl there all of 14 who is absolutely driving her mother nuts. Wait. She's driven her mother nuts. Her mother has that look of someone who's just beaten down. Can't even interact, just has that glazed look on her face.
The young girl is going on and on about what she wants to eat, what she wants to buy, her little girlfriends and her boyfriends, just talk, talk, talk. The mother has obviously been through this a million times because she's nodding and "uh-huh"ing at the right times to make it seem like she's actually listening to the girl. Probably so she doesn't hurt her little girl's feelings by saying what she'd really like to say. "Shut up." Which is exactly what I and numerous other folks were all thinking. So, the message is:
Have kids, enjoy them, be the best parent you can be. But when they're acting up, don't make the rest of us suffer (and get a glimpse in your life?), reprimand and discipline them.
